My neighborhood windmill is also a beer brewery called Brouwerij ‘t IJ, which is no longer a best-kept secret because you can find it in all guide books on Amsterdam. This micro-brewery serves delicious beers and comes up with seasonal ones too. Locals and tourists alike voluntarily pack themselves like sardines inside, spill over the sizable terrace and sprawl on the sidewalks like thirsty vagrants. My favorite is the amber-colored Columbus, 9% alcohol, 100% organic with lots of hops. No wonder I hop-hop-hop all the way home!
